GEDE’S HOME…

 

So here we are, well and truly under way with our second Wings of Empowerment Foundation project.

I’m so happy to say that the house we are currently building will become a beautiful little home for a family of 5.  Up until now, this family, consisting of Gede, his wife and baby, Mum, Dad and Sister are sharing one small room in a family complex.  In Bali this is very common as the men stay on at the family home once married.  In cases where there are several sons and their family’s, and no funds or space to expand, living conditions become impoverished and very challenging, as you can imagine.

It is such a privilege to assist Gede build a home for his family.  He’s a beautiful young guy with a very generous heart.  Always the first to put his hand up when someone is in need and goes well and truly out of his way to ensure everybody is happy.

Currently donations are being funneled into roofing materials… followed by windows, doors and cement render over the bricks, which will create a strong waterproof foundation before the wet season arrives in a few months.  The bathroom will be next and if funds permit, we will look at ceramic tiles and paint to finish.
